Question about Magicg Api hooks on Lazarus

I have really ventured into hooking and with Lazarus for object pascal, my job has been a little easier with Lazarus now the main Question I have is as a result of what I heard yesterday. Some fella discouraged me when I used magic Api hook to do some low level functions. Says its a waste of space that I can just do some low level function with trampoline and all what not.

The question I am putting through to folks out here is,do you consider magic api hook by shagabard a good method for hooking? I have seen most examples people do with it, some others put some form of hooking quite different from it.

What's your advise.Do you think there are disadvantages for it?
