If you add my bad english plus my almost inexistent design skills, you will understand wy I am unable to enlighten you about tile-based-interface-use benefits, sorry  :( . It only seem some people (including me) are interested in exploring new trends.

No. You are actually the first to query after it since before summer afaik.

I kept my ears open that time, and learned that enterprises may have enterprise keys to install their own apps (outside marktplace), and that many interested people get their metro access (avoiding the separate developer fee), because it is in the so called "action pack" for starting companies.

Probably the new metro target will also have to support SEH, and I don't know if Metro apps are 32-bit or 64-bit.

I tested win8 on a virtual machine.

as far as I saw, Metro = a "C"hildish designed big icons set as replacement of taskbar with no choice to get taskbar back. I had a strange feeling about, because nowadays computers are able to make easily great 3D and Art. So, to me, metro UI with its flat ugly design is not an improvement at all.

they did a very bad move. Whom scientist is going to launch his favorite genetic application, or his favorite raytracer without being bored by a childish computer? I was expecting better changes from the number one firm that is microsoft lol. Did they regressed to childhood? and if so, who, being serious, wants to support that?

The look is ugly indeed, and some elements do look quite archaic, like the window decorations for normal apps and some other desktop elements. Windows 2.0 lives again! They've even uglified their new apps (like M$O2013) with that flat and sharp-cornered look.

The Metro tiles look like a game for children and seem quite hard to navigate through and the interface doesn't feel intuitive.

I'm not sure who will ever get to like that mess, if not forced by something/someone. It seems like they've tried to reinvent stuff already done nicely by Android and iOS, screwing everything in the process.
