Further Issues with SingleInstance

I've been looking at using SingleInstance to prevent a second application version opening.  I have (thanks to others got it running fine on Windows.  However on the Mac it just doesn't work.

When the application is turned into an application bundle and run from terminal prompt it doesn't work at all.  I'm wanting to call my application from Adobe Flex - which uses NativeProcess to open an application - which opens it as if running from a terminal instance.  Therefore no matter what I can open multiple copies of my application.

Mac - Lazarus 1.0.8

Any ideas?
