The installation failed

Hi

i have a fresh install ML 10.8.2 with xcode 4.6.2.

I can install the fpc2.6.2 xcode package

when i run fpc 2.6.2 install package, at about 90% of installation I get
Installation Failed.

anyone experience this.

If i try to install via fink I also get error
terminal log of fink

Any ideas???

From the log i see, that you are using fink. So, it is my fault ;-) I do not have 10.8. Therefore, it is hard for me to test. My assumption is that there is no carbon. Can you try to build lazarus-gtk2 and tell, if that works?

Hartnäckig dran bleiben. Master mirror klappt oft, oder einfach selber nach dem file googlen, downloaden und in das Verzeichnis /sw/src legen.

Sorry. Probably my fault again. I forgot that the carbon based lcl is also build with lazarus gtk. Can you make carbon available? Maybe by installing the SDK for 10.7? Another option would be to modify the package description for fink, file lazarus.info in /sw/fink/dists/10.7/stable/main/finkinfo/devel. Delete the lines with "LCL_PLATFORM=carbon"

I am afraid that i have to restructure the lazarus packages for 10.7/10.8 and this may take a while.

What is the advantage of using Fink?

For more than 5 years I use the Mac installers that are hosted at SoureForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20Mac%20OS%20X%20i386/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20Mac%20OS%20X%20powerpc/, respectively) without any problem.

I don't know why I should make simple things complex by using Fink.

In one of the menus of the Installer program, you should be able to show the installation log. Once you've done that, I think at the bottom there's a pop-up menu that allows you to show everything rather an only errors. Please do so and paste the output here.

My system had already 10.7 sdk installed, but I installed 10.6 sdk.

I am still getting the same error will not install via fink
However I then tried fpc 2.6.2 installer, which now will install.

I will try to install fpc src and lazarus seperately and let you know findings.

Any ideas where to go next... Seems a lot of work to install an application.

Mountain Lion can perfectly run 32 bit applications. Its kernel is 64 bit, but even many 10.6 systems already use a 64 bit kernel. The "bitness" of the kernel on Mac OS X is completely unrelated to the kind of applications it can run.

This is very strange, because there is no reference to the 10.6 in either FPC itself or its installer sceripts. Maybe that 10.6 SDK installation also changed other things. It would have been interesting to have seen the installer log of the failed installation, but that's probably no longer easily possible now.

Try selecting system.log in the left column under "log files" (if it still exists under Mountain Lion).

Most parts of Carbon cannot be used from 64 bit applications.
