New to Free Pascal, Need Beginner Code to Try Out

Hello everyone.  I am brand new to Lazarus and FPC.  I am a just beginning newbie, so please forgive my stupidity!

I am looking for beginner program examples I can try out using Lazarus and FPC.  My eyes get glazed over when I read all the technical details in the Lazarus and FPC manuals I have downloaded...I learn best when I can start with beginner example code and then have these technical manuals on the side to refer to.

So what I am asking for is your recommendations on which sites on the net have or contain open source beginner and intermediate Pascal examples that will work in Lazarus/FPC.  What are your favorite URL' s?
You may even be a programmer who has a URL with posted programming examples I could try out!  That is
great and would be of big help to me.

Perhaps there is a list of links to programmer sites using Lazarus/FPC that I could be referred to.  I tried out my Hello World example already, now I want more simple programs to try and study the syntax and language.  Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Are you new to programming and pascal, or are you just new to Lazarus?

The wiki is one place to start.  Mainly because it's a resource you'll over and over again.  Lots of info in that wiki.

LazPlanet has a series of well written examples.    I'm in the middle of going through their Rich Text article at the moment (a nice Christmas present for myself :-) )

Shipping with Lazarus are a series of Example projects.   Available through Lazarus - Tools - Example Projects.   Rather than being learning tools in themselves, these examples are to show you different components work together.

Quite small number of websites teach all Object Pascal features, mostly covers only the procedural features. However, worry no more. These are good websites / free e-books that I recommend:

Being a bit new at this myself, I too can recommend the Getting Started book at link #3 ^^.

Also, understand that many things that apply to Delphi also apply to Lazarus, so Delphi documentation and tutorials also work well, and you'll eventually learn what stuff doesn't.
