Hi, Need some help
« on: May 27, 2013, 04:00:43 am »
Hi I was wondering if there is a way to compile or install packages without having to rebuild the Lazarus IDE? Everytime I want to build, compile or install a  package it pop's up a message box telling me I need to rebuild the ide. Is there a way to turn this  off  or remove the ide source code completely?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!
No, you have to rebuild *if you install a package*, not if you compile a package. It doesn't take long - are you having problems with it?

PS: Also, you might chosen a bit more descriptive subject line...

Hi Thank you for you're reply. No I'm not having trouble with it or building / compiling the IDE I just find it a hassle to have to rebuild the IDE just to install a package. So I was just wondering if there was  a release which doesn't require to build the IDE...

Thank You!

Why is it a hassle.....   it takes just a few seconds?

I will accept that until I did this the first time I was paranoid....  'what if it stuffs up?...   what if I don't have everything needed to rebuild?  But its as smooth as silk and I have never had a problem.

And if you want to install several packages, you don't need to rebuild for every package. For each package, install, then when asked to rebuild, refuse for all but last package.
Eventually, of course, you must rebuild once.
