I am always wary of upgrading my lazarus. It never seems straightforward but decided to bite the bullet.
I had Lazarus 1.0.6, fpc 2.6.0 and fpc-src 2.6.0 installed on LinuxMint (Debian). IIRC I installed these from deb packages downloaded from sourceforge.
I downloaded and installed fpc-src 2.6.2, fpc 2.6.2 and Lazarus 1.0.8 in that order.
Now when I start lazarus I get the "Configure Lazarus IDE" dialogue asking me to indicate the right sources directory. The dialogue has titlebar "Welcome to Lazarus IDE 1.0.6", so obxiously its executing the wrong startlazarus although the splash for Lazarus 1.0.8 appears briefly.
if I leave the /usr/share/lazarus/1.0.8 it complains and continues loading lazarus 1.0.6
Please explain what is going on. It is all very confusing.
