Installing lazarus daily snapshots in debian wheezy
« on: January 26, 2013, 05:32:08 pm »
Hello to all,
I downloaded: lazarus-1.1.39965-20130126.i386.deb.tar from
http://freepascal.dfmk.hu/test/lazarus/
I tryed to install using dpkg -i *, after of decompress it.
but It said that libqt4pas-dev was needed.
I installed it using using aptitude, but lazarus still does not run.
What I need do more?

Thanks.

Keep in mind daily snapshots are not thoughly tested
and can have major problems. left out packes, compile errors etc
I have dealt with enough of them that generally the fault is the uploader
and not the installer hince yourself. :)

I have found 1.04 and FPC 2.6.0 have been stable for me, I intentionly tried to crash
my machine and have yet to do so :)

The most damage I have done was cause my system to run out of memory, even then
it did not freeze or lockup just bogged down the system.

Im not sure what your level of expertise is on linux or Lazarus in general
but daily snapshots tend to be for those that want to see new features
functions, and modification in general.  in otherwords the are for profesionals
in a manner of speaking.n  And as I have said they generaly have some bugs
you have to work out.

with that said I would stick to stable realeases.

Lazarus 1.1 r39490 CT FPC 2.7.1 i386-linux KDE
Linux Mint 14 KDE 4

On Linux, I would use svn rather than daily snapshots. This allows you more control on what revision you install, allows you to roll back to a previous revision etc.

Please see the wiki installation documentation or... <advertisement> you can use fpcup[1] to do it for you</advertisement>

[1] Guess who in this thread started the fpcup project :)
