SOLVED: What is LazUtils and what is the role in FPCUp?
« on: December 30, 2012, 05:15:14 pm »

I am trying to compile the FPCUp program using Lazarus 0.9.30 and FreePascal 2.4.4, and when I open the project I  get a LazUtils not found error.

I can't see LazUtils anywhere in the 2.4.4 source tree and I wonder whether it is a new package introduced with FPC 2.6.0 or Lazarus 1.0 series.

On that note is FPCUp capable of running directly from the Linux command line, or does it have to be built by a pre-existing FPC? I don't see any shell executable in the sources which suggest it can. There is a cmd file for Windows though.

PS. I just checked and there is an executable version  the Downloads section. I just did a source download a la Github  :)

LazUtils is part of the Lazarus 1.0.x 2.6.0 build
Lazarus 3.0/FPC 3.2.2

Yep, you are right, fpcup was built with a newer lazarus version based on fpc 2.6.0+

backporting to earlier laz/fpc may well be possible though...
