I wonder if this guy would let his work be used

I wonder if the project leads would think something like this would be better?

I said spotty cat cause I'm not sure if its a Cheetah or a Leopard - hard to tell apart at that speed...

Better for what ;)

If you mean replacing the moving GIF image on the bugtracker, I think you won't find many takers ;)

don't tell me its sacrosanct and mention of replacement is heresy - and actually that's a fair point ;)

btw does anyone actually know definitely is it a Leopard or a Cheetah, and out of interest was it chosen for any particular reason of for the same reason as the Penguin...?

Cheetah and chosen for the its speed, it is after all the fastest animal on earth with the shortest max speed time frame I think but that's not the point.

How is it not the point, it was obviously chosen to illustrate FPC compiler's speed ;) It IS fast (esp. compared to C/C++ compilers) and it does compile in the shortest time frame possible :D

And of course it's a cheetah, actually leopards an cheetahs are not so very alike as one would think at first, apart from the spots (which are also quite different).

Their similarity probably depends on aspect & situation though: running straight at you, I'm sure the differences to the terrified beholder are minimal ;)

The outcome is also different - if it happens to be a leopard, you're dead meat for sure. :D If it's gepard you might very likely survive to talk about it.

On the other hand, if it's a leopard, you won't probably see him at all :D
