About TMemDataSet.
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:44:39 pm »
In the SVN version i didn't found the TMemDataSet, at least doesn't starts installed.
I read somewhere that TMemDataSet was deprecated.
Is that true?
If yes, is easy to tranfer the project for TBufDataSet?
Only the refactoring: Change Class will be sufficient?

Thanks people!

1st part: I asked the same question earlier. When I asked that: apparently memdataset was not deprecated but bufdataset use is encouraged.
See:
http://www.mail-archive.com/fpc-pascal@lists.freepascal.org/msg24934.html

2nd part: refactoring is fairly easy, there are some different properties etc though. See the wiki page on using memory databases (talks about tmemdataset and tbufdataset).

"No. The idea is that TMemDataset becomes a descendent of TBufDataset."

So, TMemDataset stays, like it!

Is always good when the used component remains and is improved.
Probably this change was made to fix something.
