[Solved] SVN Checkout Fails
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:58:03 am »
When I try to do SVN Checkout, it fails with the message "Decompression of svndiff data failed".  After that, if I try to do SVN Update, it gives me the message "Working copy 'C:\Lazarus' locked.
'C:\Lazarus' is already locked."

Has anyone else had this problem?

Yep, IIRC there's a misconfigured firewall between the SVN server and us that stops ICMP packets which causes the problems (think I saw this on the FPC mailing list).

I've had luck with repeatedly running checkout, I think (or maybe checkout then update). Actually am writing a small command line SVN installer right now, so I'm investigating the same issue...

Thanks BigChimp,  I was getting nervous.  Running virus scanners (not a bad thing), checking registry...  I'll relax now.

I also had this issue few day ago when downloading SVN (Windows 7 32-bit, TortoiseSVN). Tried searching with google for solutions, and some suggested even setting MTU to 1300, down from 1500 default.
- While MTU was set to 1300 i never had this error, but i didn't test it so long that this would be undeniable fact. It may have negative impact to other internet traffic on computer.
- After the error, SVN Update command always resumed downloading with no issues.
