Developping a Mac OS application from an other OS
« on: November 25, 2011, 11:29:02 am »
Hello everybody,

Everything or almost is in the title.

Is it possible to develop an application intended for the Mac OS while, to do it, I have only the environment Windows or Linux? If yes, how do we do ? Have links about that?

Thank you for your help.

IF you have an OSX machine, you can copy some directories to a Linux machine, install some stuff and try. This might work for you (IIRC, it will only work with 32 Linux, or was it 32 bit OSX libraries, sorry can't remember, details in the FPC or Lazarus mailing lists. I think the wiki page refers to that discussion as well). See OSX pages on the wiki, should be there somewhere.

Otherwise, no, it's not possible.

In ebay you can buy an used Mac Mini for around $100. Just shop around, but make sure you get a machine with x86 processor and Mac OS X 10.4+

Mac OS X has some particularities that you need to learn (like the App Bundle and how it affects resource files and command line parameters). If you don't have a real machine to test I seriously doubt that your application would work or be useful, even if you manage to compile it.
