Is wiki correct for ubuntu and 0.9.3.0
« on: November 15, 2011, 01:20:37 am »
Hi, I just tried the info on the wiki here

http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_release_version_for_Ubuntu#Short_version:_get_Lazarus

I was hoping it would install the latest version of lazarus 0.9.3.0 but it seems to install 0.9.28, it only mentions 0.9.28 in another section at the bottom of the page. Am I doing something wrong or is the section info just for 0.9.28?

Thanks in advance

If you take from ubuntu repo, then it depends on the maintainer for the repo. For the latest version, use lazarus' own repo.

Ok thanks, would that be the sourceforge pages then? I'm using ubuntu which doesn't have RPM so I would download the DEB version and install that way, Is that correct? I have this link for 0.9.30 DEB

http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20Linux%20i386%20DEB/Lazarus%200.9.30/

from there I would download
fpc-2.4.2-0.i386.deb.tar  and lazarus-0.9.30-i386.deb.tar

Then unzip the tar file and install the DEB packages using terminal and sudo dpkg -i <filename> - making sure to install the DEB files in the correct order to avoid dependancy issues?

Does that sound correct in principle, if so I'll go ahead..

TIA

Hmm... sorry, it looks like I've misinterpreted your information. You've indeed taken the one from Lazarus' own repo. Maybe it's not yet updated.

Yeah, the sourceforge mirror seems more updated, please take those instead. Anyway, this one is the latest version.
