I agree, it is a great find. A lot of my peers always wondered why I would buy old, sometimes outdated programming books; and as I told them 'features may come and go, but the fundamentals remain constant', just as in these 'old' magazines. Looking at the first issue, I realized that it would make a great primer for someone new to Lazarus/Delphi, so what is old is new again!
It's funny, back when Delphi was first released in 1995, I remember thinking 'that is OK, if you want to program under Windows!!' At the time, I was hardcore DOS user, using Turbo Pascal 6, and was determined I was never going to install Windows on my computer. So I never paid attention to the magazine.
Of course, around 2000 I had to give in and started using Delphi 5 and then Turbo Delphi, and this was the only reason I stayed on the Windows platform. This is why finding Lazarus/FreePascal last year was such a great joy for me - I finally gave Windows the boot and now run a dedicated Linux box.
And now, finding all the great people and resources on this forum really adds to the experience.
BTW, the database app sounds like a great idea. I have been reading so many comments about Firebird, I guess I need to take a look at it myself.
Thanks again,
geno.
