Can't find the unit glib Slackware
« on: August 14, 2005, 04:06:10 am »
To start I downloaded: fpc-2.0.0-0.i586.rpm - fpcsrc-2.0.0-0.i386.rpm - lazarus-0.9.8-fpc_2.0.0_0.i386.rpm
rpm2tgz and installpkg all of then. type lazarus on de command line and it loads without any error. I try to press the play just to see if it is working, and it gives me a message Fatal: Can't find unit glib. I went to slackware.com and download the lastest glib and gtk but the same error persists. some searches on google and nothing! there is a FAQ on lazarus web page but it doesn't hv the solution!! If someone can help it will be very nice to made my school works (delphi ones).
I use Slackware 10.1

fpc is not configured correctly.

make sure /etc/fpc.cfg exists and it has the lines:

-Fu/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget
-Fu/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget/*
-Fu/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget/rtl

or possibly /usr/local/lib/...

I'm getting tired of this... but I don't wanna give up! Im a kind of newbie and I love step by step...

you have to be root to run samplecfg.

so as root you could try:
/usr/lib/fpc/2.0.0/samplecfg /usr/lib/fpc/2.0.0 /etc

and that should fix it.

to become root temporarily, at a terminal type: "su" minus the quotes and then enter root's password
