Steve,

Thanks for the very informative and supportive post.  (Misery loves company.)

I've seen ZeosLib mentioned several times on this forum and gave the web site a quick look-see.  I'll go back and look into it further.  Haven't heard of ForestReport, but since I need report support I'll take a look at it also.  [I haven't gone far enough to see if there is a Lazarus-Crystal integration.]  I've also looked at delphi,about.com for help.  I'm thinking of buying a Delphi book to have a printed reference - don't know what version of Delphi would be closest to the current Lazarus version.

Again, thanks.

-Paul

PS:  I also needed a list box that behaved more like I'm accustomed to and used a DBGrid to accomplish that.  I even learned how to pass a data record from one form to another.  Google is helpful.

A very useful online delphi reference is Delphi Basics: http://www.delphibasics.co.uk/

If you are going to buy a Delphi book I highly recommend O'Reilly's Delphi in a Nutshell. Its kinda of expensive and out of print but the good thing is that its available fully online in google books:

As to ZeosLib, I have tried using it but I found it too ambitious in its scope with many shortfalls. Devart has a very solid database component set called Unidac and it supports Lazarus quite well. It costs a bit but I think its worth it.

I always liked 'Mastering Delphi X' by Marco Cantu.
Just get any version where X is any number from 3 upwards.
All posts based on: Win10 (Win64); Lazarus 3_4  (x64) 25-05-2024 (unless specified otherwise...)

hi
you don't need zeos lib to build good sqlite database application solution.

use the defaults of what lazarus had,
try to visit this link,
http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,10811.0.html

or try to view and download the sample application with sqlitedb,
http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/User:Rocarobin
the source code is below

download also this newest version of sqlite, put it on your project folder
http://www.sqlite.org/sqlite-dll-win32-x86-3070600.zip

good luck

I'm confused.  If I remember correctly, I did wrote a post here, didn't I?

No, I am confused. What link? Please provide the post, thank you.

Now I'm confused.  What "What link"?  I didn't mentioned any.  About the post, I can't remember it now.  I just remember that I wrote it.
