Clarion 2.3 Database
« on: April 06, 2011, 07:26:18 pm »
Hi,

I have a Clarion 2.3 database which i am trying to read but i fail over and over again. I found a site on the internet from a guy from Russia who has a component for this but unlucky me, it get an 404 when i try to download it. So i sended him a mail but after a few weeks still no answer, he will be busy ;-)

Because my Db has over 2500 names, date of birth, etc etc in it it will be a hard option to retype them all, does one of you smart guys know a sulution for the problem?

TIA,

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

The question is open again...

Does anybody has a freeware component for Lazarus do read the Clarion Database because i can't get it right.

I know it's my limited knowledge of Lazarus i can't get it work, it's a pitty because the rest is working fine...

Thanks in advance,

Peter

What about common go-between protocols like ODBC or ADO?  Will Clarion support these?  You might at least be able to use these to transfer the data from Clarion to something else that does work well with Lazarus, like Firebird.

Certainly you should have some import facilities if even just a CSV import function in the original db app right? Do you have a 'database administrator' app for the database? Or just a Clarion db file?

If it is a simple, one table, address book this should be rather trivial. And kinda fun and rewarding if you have never 'migrated' a table before. See kalifior offered to do it free, haha.

Main thing is deciding on which database to put it in

Have you looked at the raw data in notepad? Maybe it is unencoded and just has a header. Probably a long shot but worth a look. Sure you can't find a csv export app for this Clarion format?

And I am sure kalifior will show.
