ribbon interface

Hi.
I interesting in develop  applications with the ribbon interface look.
I know there are several packages of commercial components that include a similar component.
My question is: Is it permissible / legal implement my own control to mimic their appearance?
(devexpress, tms Software, Almediadev, ...)
(I do not speak in any case, copy the code, but to imitate their appearance and behavior).
