Which GDB version to use with Win7 Starter 32-bit?
« on: April 14, 2011, 07:46:30 pm »
Since very old (suggested for older NT windows) GDB version does not work on Win7 Starter 32-bit and newer also may not be supported, which GDB version is recommend to use in combination FPC 2.4.2 and latest SVN Lazarus on this OS?

Thanks in advance.

On 32 bit gdb 7.2 (or up) should be good. But any 7.x will be fine, even most 6.x)

On 64 bit there are some issues yet, and the answer is not 100% known (there is a 7.2.5 gdb that should work, but you may need a specific fpc snapshot)

Further more a few thinks are known: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/GDB_Debugger_Tips#General

EDIT:
This all refers to gdb from mingw. Other gdb (cygwin) have not been tested.
Lazarus 0.9.30 comes with gdb 7.2 or 7.2.1
