[SOLVED] Lazarus message windows in no longer visible

Hi there everybody,

I just tried out the following components: Anchordocking & Easydockmanager in succession. However I uninstalled both of them because I did not like the result on my IDE.

Now I discover that my Messages window has disappeared. It seems to be hidden somehow inside the source editor.

I decided to try Manualdock hoping that that at least will give me back my Messages window. After I installed it, got the error/alert in the attached screenshot.

It is not working. What can I do to get back my Messages window. I've tried reinstalling Lazarus but it did not bring it back.  :(

I'm using SVN 29829 fpc 2.4.3 version 0.9.31 on Vista.

Phew!! Fixed it. The culprit was the EasyDockMgr design package. I had to reinstall it, at which point the Message window showed up again, and then forcibly separate it from the Source Editor. Finally I uninstalled it from the IDE & I now got the default Lazarus IDE.

I wonder why docking Lazarus IDE windows is so problematic. I'm not complaining however. I'll wait until it becomes perfect.

I use the docking manager all the time now; however I had to have patience to coerce it to behave ;)

I've successfully made a D2005-like layout, and a D7-like layout I'm using now. I also had to struggle with missing, wrongly docked and scattered around windows, but with some effort I did it, and now just keep it that way.

Yes, installing the anchordockingdsgn package seems to screw up something in the settings file. You need to uninstall that package and delete your lazarus settings folder to restore the messages window. On XP it's:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user_name>\Local Settings\Application Data\lazarus
