Design it well!

The program will be very GUI centric and designing an intuitive GUI is difficult.
Before creating any code, study the competing solutions. Draw diagrams of the work flows and GUIs in your program. Make GUI mockups. Get ideas from people who don't do programming.

There are many SW projects out there with a GUI designed by the same geeks that create the program code. The result is often poor. (Sorry, I must bring PeaZip up here).
The programmer knows how his program works and he easily gets blind to the GUI design flaws.

Mostly Lazarus trunk and FPC 3.2 on Manjaro Linux 64-bit.
