Lazarus disappears from taskbar
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:23:37 pm »
Hi people,
I am running Lazarus 0.9.28.3 on Windows XP SP2.
I compiled the IDE too use GTK2 and my application is also GTK2.
I am having some strange issues I have had in the past.
When I compile my application starts, but the IDE disappears from the taskbar like if it crashed or its closed.
If I do an ALT+TAB, I can get back to the editor and continue working normally, but still its not in the taskbar.
Is this a bug?

Thanks

So, here again the problem reproduces itself.
I posted yesterday evening a bugreport, but cannot find it back. Strange.

Windows XP + SP2 - 32 bit
Lazarus-0.9.29-28858-fpc-2.4.2-20110104-win32.exe

I consider this a major essential bug.

You reported a bug in the lazarus-ccr project.

I consider this a major essential bug.

I would only consider it "major essential" if it happened with the win32 widget set on windows, not if it happens with the second rank widget sets like qt and gtk2.

I see, I think I need to learn to use the bugtracker better. Sorry if I caused more work.

Well you are right in a way, but I think bugs like this need to be fixed before 1.0

I don't think any of the current Lazarus developers is will spend much time on fixing issue for gtk2 on windows before 1.0. I advice you to use the win32 widget set on Windows. Patches are welcome though.

I understand the reason (less time, less developers).
The reason I wanted to choose GTK2 is to have a fully cross compatible app, on Windows and Linux. To avoid the problems components that move give.
But I will follow your advice and use Win32.

Don't worry, win32/64 widgetset on windows and gtk2 on linux works well, let's say... 98% compatible?

If you wont full cross compatibile app then use qt on linux/win32/mac.
