Title: [SOLVED] Block outline line option...
Post by: GypsyPrince on April 07, 2020, 11:53:59 pm
I have a request for an upgrade to an existing feature that I hope will not be met with hostility...

Can we get an option to display block outline lines as dashed, in addition to the current solid line - as shown in the images below?

For me, anyway, dashed lines will allow the block of code to appear less "busy" and still serve its purpose of guiding the eyes without being distracting.

Its already there: dashed or dotted.

Go to menu: Tools > Option
Then: Editor > Display >  Colors

There is a list of colors (text, comment, keyword, number....)
Scroll this all the way down.
You find "Outline Colors"

Select each level, and set color and style as you like it.
You want to change the setting for the "vertical mark", which is the vertical line.
The other colors affect the keyword.

You can increase/decrease the amount of colors used. Once the highest configured color is reached, it restarts at level 1.

You can also go to
Editor > Display > Markup and Matches

and select which blocks should have the outline, and which should not.

Thank you very much for that!!!

It took me a few minutes but I finally found where to change the line type.

If you looking to tune your colors less aggressive: https://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/UserSuppliedSchemeSettings
They may need adjustments though, since new setting have been added, not present in all the templates....
