The wiki said it status is still alpha. Does it production ready as the GTK2 widgetset?

There seems to be some active work judging by the repository (https://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/trunk/lcl/interfaces/gtk3/?root=lazarus) and the bug tracker. So maybe simply give it a try with the trunk version of Lazarus? Maybe the IDE itself does not work yet, but you can simply change your project to use GTK3 instead of GTK2 or Qt in the project's settings and the bindings and widgetset will be compiled when you compile your project.

Yes, I tried to build an example empty form project with the GTK3 widgetset and it compile and run normally.
