Title: Virtual tree node not getting focus

I've tried to duplicate the example given at https://wiki.freepascal.org/VirtualTreeview_Example_for_Lazarus making slight modifications for a virtualDrawTree instead of a VirtualStringTree.  I've included an onDrawNode event which works fine. I can add Root nodes but I am unable to select a node - and therefore can't add a Child node, etc.

I've done this three times, making sure to have the appropriate tree options selected. Any idea what would prevent selection of a node upon clicking it?
