Title: Alternative for Indy Components
Post by: dbcbos on February 28, 2012, 09:51:13 pm
Can't seem to get the indy components working on mac osx, but seems I can't install them as a package on my mac. Anyone knows an alternative that does work. I need them to connect to a soap and http client.

Here are some notes on using Web services with OS X and iOS:

Thanks for the reply, the website looks interesting.

It entails about using xcode as an ide instead of lazarus though. Has the use of using Xcode as an ide with object pascal more benefits vs using lazarus ie. Less bugs. And can it be used for cross-platform development. So I can also deploy from Xcode to Windows and Linux?

Using WST, as well as the particular code snippets I included, has nothing to do with Xcode. Since there's a bit more to do for iOS and Xcode is what you'll use for iOS development, I focused more on that.

Xcode is not cross-platform beyond OS X and iOS. However, you can use it to develop Pascal apps for iOS and 64-bit Cocoa, something you can't do with Lazarus.

Thanks.

Both non-visual lNet and Synapse work fine on the Mac for sockets.  I can't think of strong reasons to use non-cross-platform sockets unless only developing for Mac.

Somebody can check and update list if libraries are supported and working on Mac.
