Title: newbie can't even get started
Post by: Fillyjonk on August 15, 2009, 09:28:31 am
Hello everyone. Just to help you see my situation, I haven't had anything to do with programming for well over ten years and now I only need it for fun. Back then I played around with Turbo Pascal and did get the very basics of objects in, so Lazarus should be the toy of choice... Unless I'm too dumb to deal with it.

 :-[

I first tried a few months ago but gave up; this time I haven't yet fed it any code of my own, just the silly examples that come with it, the notebook and the trackbar and whatever. They ALL crash and some of them take the IDE down with them as they do. To read your comments on this forum, the project is beyond such problems and into minor glitches which don't stop you from having long hours of normal programming fun-and-frustration with it. So?

I have Windows XP and got the Lazarus from SourceForge, in the 9.26.2 version. Should I make a list of error messages and post it, or is something more obvious wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Fillyjonk

Try to disable the debugger (Options -> Debugger -> debugger type -> none).
Do you have Comodo Firewall?
