In https://www.freepascal.org/future.html it shows Maintenance tasks still open -- Rework, reorganize, re-sort the FPC compiler parameter handling and use long options
Is that still outstanding?
Is there any discussion as to what the long options would be for each existing option? (or is that part of this task to propose those options and get that discussion going?)

I'm not sure that is still desirable, that is quite old, I think between 2.0 and 2.2. Usage has grown so much, that breakage hurts a lot more than then.

At least the re-sorting of the options was updated in main (https://gitlab.com/freepascal.org/fpc/source/-/commit/f134e3b0eec1866a21572feb012813fa14623b87).

That's my opinion as well. I think that list should be updated (after all the m68k target is alive again as well ;) ).
