“AppCameraDemo” also fails to work in Android 10.
The app writes “'Success! ['+manifestPermission+'] Permission grant!!!”,
however when the button “Take Photo!” is pressed, the app crashes.
Just try it yourself in Android 10.

Linux / Re: Runtime error when include cthreads lib
« Last post by guiwunsch on Today at 04:22:05 am »
I've tried it that way. I just removed it to simplify the code in my sample to show that even codding very "clean" it presents the same error. I believe it is nothing in the code, but in the Linux distribution, as the same code works in other distributions. However, I would like some tips, as I don't know where to start debugging this problem.

This is the default uses clause generated by Lazarus, maybe you can try:

Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. uses
  2.   {$IFDEF UNIX}{$IFDEF UseCThreads}
  3.   cthreads,
  4.   {$ENDIF}{$ENDIF}
  5.   Interfaces, // this includes the LCL widgetset
  6.   Forms, unit1
  7.   { you can add units after this };

General / Counter changed after accessed
« Last post by sunTan on Today at 04:08:44 am »
Hi,

I wrote earlier (Compilation error??) and I had issue removing the include files. My problem was counter altered from 0 after accessing the array.

            newcat := cbxCategory.Text ;
            catDB[catCnt] := newcat ;
            catCnt := catCnt + 1 ;
            frmMyDB.StatusBar.Panels.Items[0].Text := 'Category ' + newcat + ' saved.' ;

newcat was included for debugging purpose. If you breakpoint in TfrmMyDB.cbxCategoryKeyUp, catCnt = 0, on first encounter. After executing carDB[catCnt], catCnt value is changed from 0 to >17000. As a result, the system will break on error when catCnt is used.

Included is the bare minimum of the code.

Thanking you in advance... sunTan

Android / jOpenDialog crashes in Android 10
« Last post by neuro on Today at 03:46:00 am »
The sample project “AppOpenFileDialogDemo1”
works in Android 4.3 (32-bit, device: Samsung Galaxy S3),
however fails to work in Android 10 (64-bit, device: Samsung Galaxy S9).
In sample project both buttons “Get File List” and “jOpenDialog1.Show()” crash the app when running in Android 10.
The following code also crashes in Android 10:
Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. listFile:= Self.GetFileList(Self.GetEnvironmentDirectoryPath(dirDownloads));

How to fix this bug of jOpenDialog?

General / Re: Multiple Installments of FPC
« Last post by Gustavo 'Gus' Carreno on Today at 02:47:20 am »
Hey Trev,

I have no particular issue with FPCUpDeluxe which I think is an absolutely amazing work by Fred, but I don't recommend it over the official installations for new users doing their first install.

Noted and I'll begin to add a disclaimer when I mention fpcupdeluxe just in case my cognitive biases run amok.
Your arguments are quite valid and, again, maybe due to some cognitive bias, this has completely never popped up in my brain.
Again, many thanks Trev for giving me a bit more perspective!!

For myself, I use my own scripts for non-release installations from source of both FPC and Lazarus simply because I like to know what's going on and when it goes south, I can debug it easily and generally fix whatever the issue happens to be. That's the only reason why I don't use FPCUpDeluxe.

To each their own and as long as we use it, doesn't really matter how we install it, right?

Cheers,
Gus

I couldn't agree more !!! :)

Honestly, if the src were originally in /usr/local/share/fpcsrc/3.2.0 and Lazarus tells you they are 3.2.0 I would strongly suspect that they are in fact 3.2.0

Please check that you installed the right package, consider removing the src and reinstalling, watching what the package tells you what it is as it installs.

You should not mix the fpc 3.2.2 compiler with 3.2.0 source code, will cause you confusion later on.
