Everything that starts with pl_ is managed by CodeTyphon project, see here (http://www.pilotlogic.com/codetyphon/help/index.html?lazarus_extentide_packages.htm). There might be no standalone download, though. I have no idea where CodeTyphon maintainer gets those packages.

You don't need to install CodeTyphon to use VirtualTrees. See the link http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,18640.0.html (http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,18640.0.html)

The maintainer of the CodeTyphon project got it from the same place & just modified it a little and repackaged it as pl_VirtualTrees.

I think no moderator knows the facts in this case, but you can explain how it really is.

BTW, I appreciate your work with CodeTyphon although I was wondering about the issue of forking/contributing in one msg thread.
I understand the situation now more or less.
I also know how hard it is to port some Delphi components. Kudos for you!

Sorry but I am lost now. What problem?
If you feel that you or your project is mistreated here somehow, I believe we can solve it somehow.

It's simple Sir
my CodeTyphon team 10 professional pascal programmers,
want a "Moderator" answer from Lazarus Forum Sir

and this is critical for us...

Dear Sternas

I don't know how much your development team has modified VirtualTrees. It is possible none of the moderators know it.
At some point I was given enough rights to delete spam posts etc. but it does not make me an expert on this.
Obviously I will not moderate posts when I don't know the facts.

Maybe you would like to explain the improvements in CodeTyphon's VirtualTrees.
Then every reader of this thread will be corrected (and maybe even impressed).

You can correct any factually wrong statements about CodeTyphon here also in future.

So,
WE must  "explain" things for your user "wrong statements"
We understand very well...

Thanks Sir and  have fun...

It would be faster than waiting for any one to talk on your behalf especially when no one knows what exactly happened except you and your team.

Is there a way to see what PL changes have been done to the original components, and what the original versions are?

Since I stirred up this hornet's nest, I have to clarify myself.

I appreciate the work of the CodeTyphon team and I use their components in my Lazarus installation. CodeTyphon has done a terrific job of promoting the Pascal language. However I believe the original files for some of the components were modified (even if all they did was add "pl_" to the name of the component) because if one tries to install a CodeTyphon component with dependencies, such dependencies had better be the ones with the "pl_" prefix otherwise you're stuck.

In addition, some components were renamed completely. Last time I looked, the Lazarus component MapViewer, a component that allows you to use Google Maps in your applications
http://code.google.com/p/mapviewer/ (http://code.google.com/p/mapviewer/)
& http://keit.co/p/tmapviewer/ (http://keit.co/p/tmapviewer/), was renamed to pl_GeoGIS. That looks like modification to me.  %)

I believe we all need Sternas Stefanos to enlighten us on his work and clarify whatever modifications he made for the benefit of us all. For example, their work in porting the Cindy components, LAVA/ORCA components could be of use to the larger Lazarus community.  :D

I get the impression that Sternas feels insulted somehow.
There's no need for that, is it so strange that people wonder what differences there are between Lazarus components and CodeTyphon components?
Please let's all stay one big Pascal family and don't go into each others hair over nothing.
We're all on the same side: the Pascal side.

I have the same impression too but honestly it was never my intention to do that. I was just stating my observations.

I am still puzzled about why Sternas reacted so strong about the VirtualTrees comments.
What was so badly wrong with them? Could you please explain Sternas.
