Title: Can we just mask single layer after mask blend layer on Lazpaint?
Post by: Love on November 29, 2022, 06:43:48 am
I want to use masking by brush only on a single layer but masking blend layer masks all layers below it.
Eraser tool can mask a single layer, but I found that it can mask certain areas, but it cannot bring those areas back
and also, eraser tool does not have soft brush because of which the edges of a layer cannot blend in the below layer.

Hello Love

Masking a single layer would be possible with layer groups, which are not implemented yet.
https://github.com/bgrabitmap/lazpaint/issues/68

A possible workaround is to create the mask on top of the layer you want to apply it too, indeed masking everything below, and click on the "merge layer over" button in the layer window. This will merge only the mask and the layer below.

You can before that duplicate the mask and the layer below and make them invisible, if you need to modify them.

Regards

Thanks for replying. Until layer group implementation in LazPaint I will go with this method. :D

You're welcome.

I really want to add layer groups, when I get enough free time.  :)
