Lazarus vs. F-Secure Anti-Virus 2010
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:31:48 am »
Hi,

i'm running F-Secure Anti-Virus on my Computer. Today it has downloaded an update.
But now, if i try to start Lazarus, the DeepGuard from F-Secure pops up and denies the file "fpc.exe" to start.
I've scaned my Lazarus Folder and F-Secure found more than 20 suspicious files in it.
I downloaded the newest install-file from this page to reinstall Lazarus. But also while the installation F-Secure denies the start of "fpccmkcfg.exe"

In the new installation folder F-Secure finds also some suspicous files.

I don't think the files are corrupted, but the new detection rules for F-Secures rates the FPC as suspicious.
The suspicious files are classified as "Suspicious:W32/Malware!Gemini".

Has someone the same problem?

No. At work I have AVG, at home I have Avast free. They do not find anything suspicious.

A hoster of my application reported today (automatically) that some suspicious reports came with the latest release (update yesterday). Warnings apply both for Windows and Linux versions. It was the first time that a virus scanner signalled something.

No, I have installed Avira Premium Security Suite 2009 (windows 7 32 bits) with all updates applied, and lazarus runs perfect.

Check your installer, or maybe you downloaded any suspicious component. Check before compile lazarus.

It happens from time to time. Not just with FPC, but also with mingw (GCC) binaries and even Delphi apps.

Typically the warnings are heuristic alarms only. I usually recommend to disable the heuristic scans, since they are the cause of most false positives.

From time to time, Comodo Internet Security asks me to verify Lazarus, FPC and mingw executables. I just authorize it to allow the executables to continue.

My old Agnitium Security Suite did not have these hang-ups & it dealt with Lazarus more intelligently.
