hello one and all,

is there a TWebModule component in FPC/lazarus?  it would have to handle web requests, TWebRequest, and responses, TWebResponse.  i would use it under Apache.

since no one has responded to this, i think i will ask the next question.  and i think i know the answer.  i have delphi v5-7 and kylix v1-3, all with source.  what are the implications of porting some of those components to FPC/lazarus?  in this case the TWebModule stuff?

You can only use ideeas not code !!!
We don't want Borland to say we have stolen code, like it happened with SCO Unix and Linux.
As you can see in the sources, Lazarus an FPC have original code.
But you can port free components or rewrite the ones you need.

that is what i thought.  perhaps i will write the THttpModule to be a general interface and plugin an apache interface.  since i am familar with that one.  other people can then write plugins for other web servers, like IIE, tux, etc.

Good ideea, but be careful, others have to understand you code too, try to stick to existing standards.
