« on: January 06, 2005, 07:52:54 pm »
I installed Lazarus on my WinXP an it's run ok, but when I install mysql component to access mysql database the program (Lazarus) does not run and tell me: mysqlclient.dll not found. Then I downloaded mysql and install it, but in /mysql/lib/opt I find only libmysql.dll and not mysqlclient.dll. Please, give-me a help !

MySQL should have a good client dll and you should copy it to the System32 dir maybe make a copy with the second name too.

It seems various versions of MySQL use different names for the library, try renaming it.

Hi!

I renamed the libmysqld.dll to mysqlclient.dll and occured another error:  "entry point to procedure mysql_thread_init not found in library DLL mysqlclient.dll". But, in dll has "my_thread_init".

I´m using mysql 4.1.10a.

How we can fix that entry?

I think it is problem with Lazarus on Win XP, because, when I try on Win 98 its work without any problem (but I still haven't mysqclient.dll).

Well I had not problem connecting to MySQL. But I installed EMS mySQL manager. Goto http://www.mysqlmanager.com and download their light version it is free and could make it possible to connect with lazarus to a mySQL-server. :) (No garantee)

When I try to connect I get the following message:

'This program can only work with the MySQL client version 4.0x Please use the right version of libmysql.dll'

I have the most recent version of MySQL so I think maybe this component needs updating.

No. You should use the the libmysql.dll from mySQL 4.0
The mySQL team made later versions incompatible with 4.0. But by using the 4.0 client lib you can access 4.1 servers as well.
It is very hard to keep up with the mySQL team if they change function calls from one minor version to the next.
