Can't put Lazarus in dock

I have never encountered this before: Lazarus (in the Applications folder) won't let me drag it to the dock. Lazarus is the only piece of software with this problem -- I can easily put other things in the dock. Google has never heard of this problem. Ideas?

Just tried 4.0 RC2 (with the fixes up to a few days ago) and Sequoia on a M1 iMac,  no issues putting the application in the dock.

OK, this makes me sound very ignorant, but I've been using Macs for many years and this has never happened before.
Lazarus is not installed in Applications -- it is under /opt/local/share/lazarus I had to right click on the lazarus.app shortcut in Applications, choose Show Original, and then drag THAT one to the dock.
Is there a good reason why Lazarus does not install itself as an Application like everything else does?

Note: When building Lazarus from source, Apple very kindly add a quarantine attribute to your *.app files that ensures they will not run. xattr -drv com.apple.quarantine * will solve this for you.

What version of Lazarus are you using? I have no problem dragging "lazarus.app" to the dock.
