[Solved] Width of Project-Close Dialogue Too Narrow
« on: January 18, 2025, 11:08:12 pm »
MacOS Monterey, Laz/FPC 3-7/3-2-3

In the beginning I used to struggle with cleanly closing a project and loading another.  Then I discovered the option Project-Close and it works great. However, I do find the fixed width of the dialogue a little irritating because many of my project folders are quite long and often I need to click and drag the dialogue to make it wider so I can identify the correct project from the list.  This became quite relevant when I had several different versions of my project in my main project folder all with the same first 8 or so characters.

I have no idea if this is a Mac thing but it would be nice if the IDE remembered the last size used when the project-Close dialogue is opened.

Have I missed a configuration or perhaps there is a hack I can use to achieve this?

In the beginning I used to struggle with cleanly closing a project and loading another.

Just open a new project right away (menu Project > Open or even File > Open). The old one will be closed automatically. You will be prompted to save it if there are any changes.

it would be nice if the IDE remembered the last size used when the project-Close dialogue is opened.

I agree, so I wrote a patch. After the developers accept it, it will be in the new version of Lazarus.

While I was making the patch, I also found a small bug in saving the size of the options dialog ))

@n7800, I have just tried and can confirm that menu Project > Open does indeed cleanly open the new project. I recall that that was not the case in earlier versions (can't be certain which). Nevertheless a welcomed change.

Thank you for raising the bug and patch
