Ancient Program
« on: December 06, 2024, 06:08:43 pm »
A day book program I wrote for Christmas using brand-new Delphi 1 is turning 30 years old this month!   Transferred to Lazarus in 2011 I think -- still in use!

I wrote my personal Address Book in the TP 6.0 era.
Probably over 30 years ago now.
Updated to Delphi 1 (!), D3 and then Lazarus.
Along the journey I completely rewrote it of course.
It's still in use.

The Meta-2 implementation that runs a significant chunk of my business was coded in Summer 1986 based on a paper from 1964.

It's obviously had various iterations since then, including a hack to make the syntax it understands extensible at runtime.

We are, sadly I guess, old now.  But it was a heck of a ride wasn't it?

Wonder what the programs of thirty years from now will look like -- or will the "programming" paradigm even still exist?

1964 was a good year  :)

This is how young hipsters writing their hipster... scripts in Python and JavaScript think about Pascal users :D
