Gordon Bell Dies

Gordon Bell, designer of the DEC VAX computers, has died.  End of another era.

He definitely was one of the amazing minds of the computer field.   R.I.P.

Out-lived his creation. R.I.P.
Brilliant machine. never programmed on it, but many time slots to run SPSS at Univerity.
bitrate is always calculated like this:sample rate * bitdepth * number of channels.

A sad loss. I was lucky enough to meet him, some time after the new millennium. He was with Microsoft by then but still the name on the Gordon Bell Prize. And was keen to drop into our, then Unix based, supercomputer facility, so, clearly interested in HPC even then.

He came across as a very intense person, really, really keen to get his point across accurately, what ever it was. Enjoyed a meal with him.
