He definitely was one of the amazing minds of the computer field.   R.I.P.
(FPC v3.0.4 and Lazarus 1.8.2) or (FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v3.2) on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

Out-lived his creation. R.I.P.
Brilliant machine. never programmed on it, but many time slots to run SPSS at Univerity.
If I smell bad code it usually is bad code and that includes my own code.

A sad loss. I was lucky enough to meet him, some time after the new millennium. He was with Microsoft by then but still the name on the Gordon Bell Prize. And was keen to drop into our, then Unix based, supercomputer facility, so, clearly interested in HPC even then.

He came across as a very intense person, really, really keen to get his point across accurately, what ever it was. Enjoyed a meal with him.

Also notable for the landmark "Computer Structures: Readings and Examples" book, AKA "Bell (, Siewiorek) & Newell".
