leetcode doesn’t support pascal
« on: April 12, 2024, 03:18:52 pm »
There is no pascal on leetcode. Why don’t we go there and promote pascal?

For example, we could upvote this https://leetcode.com/discuss/feedback/3719595/Pascal-language-support.

Maybe they excluded it on purpose because they hate pascal.

I have no need. That said, those who are interested, please do.

I think there are not enough people who support pascal. For example, here is a vote for haskell https://leetcode.com/discuss/feedback/136097/Please-provide-Haskell-language-support
258 people voted for haskell and only 1 vote for pascal (mine) They didn't add haskell but they added racket and elixir.

Probably a language needs to be l33t enough to have standardised interview questions, which are mostly the very hyped kind.

To be honest, I was never asked such language detail questions in a job interview, it was always more about familiarity with frameworks or kinds of apps.

Moreover, there was always some interview with a senior programmer, and they wouldn't have asked stock questions to begin with. (I was lucky, he asked if I knew Indy, and I showed him I ported Indy9 to FPC:-)

Same when I later sat in on a few job interviews as senior programmer myself.

I took another look at the leetcode website. It just looks like some business trying to make money from people too lazy to practice programming by doing. People who are serious about learning pascal {or any other language } shouldn’t go to places Like that to begin with.

The fact that the person who started this thread has no apparent history of using pascal probably indicates that the motive is to waste our time..luring us off to another platform which is likely well populated with pascal haters to engage us..

Joanna, just help in solving the few remaining Rosetta Code issues....
You are right about leet, though.
If I smell bad code it usually is bad code and that includes my own code.

It's not true. L33t is a good place to learn. Even FAAGs use it to interview people. You don't need money to use it. If we managed to persuade l33t to add Pascal support, it would increase Pascal's popularity. Do you need some frash blood in the community?

If I didn’t post on this forum before, it doesn’t mean I never used Pascal.
You must be thinking I'm some promoter from l33t ha ha too bad they didn't pay me.

Because users pay training companies for their services, not the other way around :)

I didn't want to be engaged in debates whether l33t is good or bad. All I wanted to say was, Let's go and upvote pascal on l33t and any similar platforms. It doesn’t metter like you l33t or not. It’s an opportunity to promote pascal.

This topic was viewed 5633 times. If half of it went there, we would outvote go, rust and any hipster's languages. ;)

This thread is yet another good example of why people who don’t know pascal should not be able to post in these forums.

The topic is totally valid. Talking about Pascal is not limited to coding in Pascal.
