Center Lost Window feature broken?
« on: March 25, 2024, 01:10:00 am »
I think the center a lost window function in the IDE may be broken in my version of Lazarus.  I am wondering if some people can check there for me before I do a bug report.

My version is:
Lazarus 3.99 (rev main_3_99-1715-g51d2468af3) FPC 3.3.1 x86_64-linux-gtk2

I checked the trunk in win32/gtk2/qt5 - everything works. All windows appear and are placed in the center.

In a docked IDE, windows are of course not centered if they are docked, but rather just open a tab with them.

Are all windows or a specific one not appearing?

Not on Wayland.  On X.  But it also did NOT work on my Windows 10 laptop.  Maybe because the form is off screen it is unable to center it on my laptop?  Which the laptop is a single display.  My desktop is multiple displays.  Which is why one of my forms often is off screen when i open the project on the Windows laptop.  But even on the Desktop with m,ultiple displays it should probably at least center the form over the center of the main IDE window where I have things docked.  hmmmm.

Additional info:  If I center other windows it actually works but will not center the form in the form designer.

Just verified on my laptop at work earlier today as well that it does not center and bring forward the Form Designer in Windows 10 either with a fairly recent trunk.  I didn't think to message the version to me.  I find it odd that it works for everyone else.  I use the docked IDE but I think most people do these days.   I have one more Linux machine I can test on later.

Now I realized that it was about the designer windows. This feature actually stopped working. It is noteworthy that calling the window through the main menu (directly in the "Windows" menu, not the "Center a lost window" submenu) works...

I found the culprit revision and created a regression report:

As usual, I created the issue myself and closed it myself ))

Check it out, it should work now.
