Do I need KOL-CE ?
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:12:49 pm »

I am still reading the WinCE wiki, installing/uninstalling and making some tests.

What do I need to make a WinCE application ? KOL-CE or just the LCL compiled with wince-arm ?

I tried both and they work ( simple test, only a form and a button ).

First time I came here I thought I should use only KOL-CE to make an application.

  Best regards,

  Cunhajr

 Hi Zaher,

Ok, that's good to hear that I can use LCL choosing wince widgets.

I think it is clear that choosing a non KOL application I can use all LCL components, I did it here and it seems to work fine.

But, is there a reason to use KOL ? What are the diffs between them?

I can see people using both KOL and non KOL wince application. As a newbie in Lazarus and wince it seems to be obvious to choose withou KOL, cause I will have all LCL components.

 Thank you for your reply.

cunhajr, Both work.  KOL makes smaller executable programs, but your application cannot be recompiled and used on non-Windows CE devices.

If you use LCL, you can compile your application for use on other OSses and CPUs, but the Windows CE executable is bigger.
