Also having the RANDOM generation inside the benchmark loop is likely to have some influence (how large ?) on the timing results.
Did they really do that? I missed that gotspe.
Also nobody is testing the compiler, just Intel cpu targeted code..... which is even worse, Test the compiler, and for multiple cpu's. Not just Intel/AMD64
For memory : so Grumpy doesn't have the opportunity to reedit his un-thoughts if the matter is discussed further..

No, the pure Pascal flow should be such that the algorithm performs better on any CPU and that is here not the case. At least not tested. So:nonsense.
If I smell bad code it usually is bad code and that includes my own code.
