Lazarus Release 3.0
« on: December 21, 2023, 05:13:29 pm »
The Lazarus team is glad to announce the release of Lazarus 3.0.

This release was built with FPC 3.2.2.

Here is the list of changes for Lazarus and Free Pascal:
http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_3.0_release_notes
http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/User_Changes_3.2.2

Here is the list of fixes for Lazarus 3.x:
https://gitlab.com/freepascal.org/lazarus/lazarus/-/commits/fixes_3_0/

The release is available for download on SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/

Choose your CPU, OS, distro and then the "Lazarus 3.0" directory.

Checksums for the SourceForge files:
https://www.lazarus-ide.org/index.php?page=checksums#3_0

Minimum requirements:

Windows:
  2k, 32 or 64bit, Qt, Qt5, Qt6 (64bit only)

FreeBSD/Linux:
  gtk 2.24 for gtk2, qt4.5 for qt, qt5.6 for qt5, Qt6.2 for qt6, 32 or 64bit.

Mac OS X:
  Cocoa (64bit) 10.12, Carbon (32bit) 10.5 to 10.14, Qt and Qt5 (32 or 64bit), Qt6 (64bit only).

There is a problem on Macos. When upgrading from Ventura to Sonoma 13.6, debugging in the IDE often does not work, the app does not start. Running the app without debugging and debugging in the Terminal using lldb does work.
Once a solution is found I will upload a new Lazarus pkg for Macos.

And another heartfelt thank you to the Lazarus team.

Lazarus really makes it a pleasure to use FPC.
(FPC v3.0.4 and Lazarus 1.8.2) or (FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v3.2) on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

Wonderful!  :)
Thousand thanks to the Lazarus / Free Pascal team and the really vital community for this new release!!

It's the first regular release where my apps (purely Windows) are fully happy with and don't need hacks and patches on essential components. It's a pleasure and made Lazarus as the best programming environment i ever could use. I simply can recommend it to everybody who writes desktop applications.
Merry Xmas to the team and the community!

Many thanks to the amazing team behind Lazarus.
You are great.  :) :) :)

Just installed and made a Hello World.
Not surprisingly it ran well. ( amd64.deb )

One minor note. The About Lazarus still shows version as release candidate.

Version: 3.0RC1

Can you check, if you run it with startlazarus, and if you had the RC before => maybe there is an RC1 exe in your ~/.lazarus (or somewhere in a subfolder) => and startlazarus would be starting this.

If so, that will be fine as soon, as either
- you delete that RC1 file
- you rebuild your 3.0 (which you need to do, if you need any packages installed)
