BEST UNIX FOR FREE PASCAL

What is the best unix for Free Pascal ?
I went as far as I could developing programs with tp7, but enough is enough with the
64K mem limit !...
I decided to migrate to Free Pascal but dont know which best unix to use...

Do you want a 'use my system/distro war' on this forum?

fpc is available out-of-the-box for FreeBSD, Linux and OS/X. So I choose one of those.

And if you're using Linux, a lot of distributions have fpc included. And my guess is that Fedora is the most up-to-date (as far as fpc/lazarus is concerned) and with the new Fedora-11 with the new GDB debugging can become awesome...

But, hey, that's just my choice.

thank you for your input. My next question is:  should I partition the hard drive of the computer I am going to install Fedora Linux or can I just install Fedora Linux straight onto a newly reformatted hard drive?

Depends if you want to run other operating systems on that machine. In general: if you have some empty space (unpartitioned) on your hard-drive you can plug the Fedora-cdrom into your system and start the installation. It will do the partitioning for you if you want.

For UNIXes I use Lazarus with Mandriva and Mac OS X ... works fine in both.
