Install for MS-DOS and 8086?
« on: August 31, 2023, 07:45:24 am »
Is there A version that installs/works for MS-DOS 6.22 and 8086 CPU?

I have an IBM Model 30 I picked up.  Upgraded it to a NEC v30 CPU , added A Math Coprocessor and 2mb EMS ISA card.

Along with a solid state hard drive solution and ISA>USB card for more storage.

I *think* it looks like probably a no from what I read but still not 100% sure.

I have TP 7.0 installed and working from the old days, but figured FPC would be neat to use over TP 7 , if possible.

I don't think there is a native version for DOS 8086.
There is some work done on a cross-compiler for it.

Look at https://wiki.freepascal.org/DOS

You are right: you can't compile for a native compiler for 8086 afaik, but the cross-compiler works OK.
If I smell bad code it usually is bad code and that includes my own code.
