to Lazarus devs - thank you

Weiss:
I installed Delphi CE not long ago, simply because I had a book on Delphi. Limit of CE is that it cannot be installed on multiple machines. I travel for work, thus naturally, I tried using Lazarus and continue going by same book. To my surprise any Delphi code, when started in Lazarus, works like a hot damn. IDEs cosmetically slightly different, few things traded spaces, but not a lot, virtually two identical IDEs Delphi and Lazarus. One is boutique-high-price-VIP while another is totally free.

I can't say enough how grateful I am. Lazarus should be promoted more. If high price of Delphi is an obstacle to new programmers, Lazarus is the fix.

I applaud and concur. Years ago I happily used Turbo Pascal. As I moved to additional (non-Windows) platforms, I searched for other options. For a while I thought C++ was the way forward, then fell for the deadend REALbasic (now Xojo).

In about 2012 I searched for better cross-platform options, trying many languages (Java, Python, etc.), finally concluding that Free Pascal/Lazarus was the best solution, and committed thousands of lines of code.

Many thanks to the development team!

I agree.  I remember back in 2012 when I was looking to do a little hobbyist programming, and I didn't feel like doing it in C or C++     I went about to see if there was a cost-effective Pascal compiler, and found of that FreePascal and Lazarus was available.

I am very grateful for the FPC devs, the Lazarus devs, and this community.

Thanks for the reminder.

I want to put my "thank you" here too!

I only use Lazarus as a front end to FPC and (GDB or FpDebug).  Even though I don't take advantage of many of Lazarus' capabilities, the fact that Lazarus provides a fairly capable debugging environment is a _must_ in any usable development environment. It is accurate to say that I use FPC because of Lazarus.

Therefore, thank you FPC and Lazarus teams.

Many, many thanks to FPC and Lazarus developers!
Also, thanks to all active forum users, to those who generously share their knowledge, as well as to those who ask questions.
Thank you!
