Where do you publish your programs?
domasz:
Do you make any programs for general public? Where do you publish them?
I used to create a .PAD file and submit it but:
1) less and less websites accept .PAD files.
2) many websites require a payment to publish your app (even $400)
3) there is less and less websites with software
The is a Windows store from Microsoft but not a single Windows user I know downloads anything from that store.
I make Windows apps for now. Freeware mostly but also commercial ones with trial modes.

I am guessing your question is restricted to Windows Apps ? I publish my app via github and more than half my downloads are Windows users.
But I recently had a user ask for me to make it available via https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/ - I have not had time to do it yet but it does look pretty reasonable. But the app needs to live on (eg) github initially.

Putting closed source application on Github doesn't sound like a good idea

Are you apps Windows specific?
if not, how about going after the Mac market? Supposedly Mac users are more likely to pay for software.
