It is not about the Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, it is about that the Eastern Orthodox Churches are celebrating on different dates, some according to Gregorian others to Julian calendar.
Весела Коледа и Честита Нова Година на всички!
I know that, and you know that. And I'm intimately familiar with the difference between Julian and Gregorian. And I'm aware of the recent problems in the ukraine between the various branches of the Eastern Church.
But I'd far prefer it if we could agree on something which didn't have "Eastern vs Western" in it, and which didn't detract from the status of Ukraine as an internationally-recognised country.
I am, of course, also familiar with some of the pre-Christian interpretations of the significant points of the year, including some of the interpretations of the drawings at Lascaux and so on. I'd suggest that this is not the appropriate place to start arguing that.
So could we stick to wishing each other "Season's Greetings" Please?
